Greetings For those oxygen-thieving-tea-drinking slackers out there, THIS IS YOUR CONSCIENCE CALLING. If you've not done your ExecuRead homework today, please treat this as a polite but firm virtual kick in the 'tochas'. And if you've been good, disciplined and conscientious, please share your progress and anecdotal success-stories with us. We've got a Facebook page for ExecuRead Graduates and also a Facebook page for ExecuRead (where you can "Like" us please.)Here's a variation on a familiar theme to show just how smart your brain is when it comes to word-recognition : "TH15 M355463 53RV35 T0 PR0V3 H0VV 0UR M1ND5 C4N D0 4M4Z1N6 TH1N65! 1MPR3551V3 TH1N65! 1N TH3 B361NN1N6 1T VV45 H4RD BUT N0VV, 0N TH15 L1N3 Y0UR M1ND 1S R34D1N6 1T 4UT0M4T1C4LLY VV1TH0UT 3V3N TH1NK1N6 4B0UT 1T. To test your present reading /comprehension rate, you can obtain quizz tests at these sites (and then use the pagination calculator to set up your book for the 1-minute, 5-minute, 10-minute markers) :http://www.sparknotes.com/sparknotes/ http://www.cliffsnotes.com/literature-study-guides.html Technology is on the up-and-up and the number of e-Readers is having a substantial impact on reading trends and reading habits. I have a blog on tablet e-readers versus printed books for the average semi-literates, but have little information about how you cerebrally-advantaged speed readers are managing the tablet e-readers. I know that some of you have experienced impressive gains in applying your skills to e-readers. I've tried these gizmos but after more than 50 years with Gutenberg, I'm a paper-man at heart. Any stories, experiences, techniques that you'd like to share, either on my blog or on Facebook? What model of e-reader do you prefer? Any pro's and con's? Here's an iPad Reading Tip - When pacing on the screen with your finger, to stop the pages from turning over (and ending up at the beginning of the book if you are using Step 1 or Step 2), try keeping your left-hand thumb on the screen to prevent the page from turning. Additionally, one of our graduate bloggers on our ExecuRead Blog suggests using the eraser-end of a pencil to do your pacing instead of your finger. The eraser keeps the screen clean and will prevent unintended and unwanted page-turning.GPS coordinates embedded in iPhone pictures - I recently advertised an item on Craig's List. A "buyer" asked me to send some additional pictures of the item and "suggested" that iPhone pictures would probably be easiest to take and to send to him. Remembering that these images have the GPS coordinates embedded, identifying where the pictures were taken, I suspected that I was being set up to get fleeced. My "Computer-Geek" nephew explained that if you crop and resample the images, the embedded GPS coordinates are removed. We are honored to continue our ExecuRead relationship with the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine at LMU, GA State University's Robinson College of Business, the Marine Corps Intelligence Schools, Babcock & Wilcox and new clients, Windham Brannon CPA in Atlanta, the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte and 1st Radio Battalion of 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton. If you would care to introduce ExecuRead to your company, school or college (and refresh your own skills at the same time), download our ExecuRead Brochure to test the level of interest or simply virtually introduce me to a decision-maker.Finally, we have weekend public courses every month in Charlotte NC for any co-workers or friends who need to improve their reading & information management skills and for those who would like a refresher course. The November course is sold out but we have two weekend courses scheduled for December. See our Course Calendar for details. My thought for the day - While "Smart" might be finding the one right answer to life's multiple-choice questions, "Intelligent" is creatively inventing a totally new solution, signifying not only total knowledge, but also the ability to think outside the "box".Best regards to all y'all.
