I love reading

Reading skills will improve when our children WANT to read, when they can see the VALUE of reading and what reading can DO for them. It’s all motivated by self-interest and self-gratification. And it’s a ‘sell-job’. We can’t sell reading by telling our students to read what WE WANT them to read. We need to talk fun, excitement, satisfaction, reward, entertainment – the excitement of the destination rather than the drudgery of the journey.
